Invest where the industry is already growing
Kronoberg’s machinery industry is growing faster than the national average, delivers high productivity and operates at costs below Europe’s major industrial cities. The suppliers and skills are already here. Perhaps that is why we are one of Sweden’s strongest export regions. We have a long tradition of global trade and international relations – and we know how to get newly established cogs turning.
Machines have been made in Kronoberg for over a hundred years. The companies that manufacture here – such as Volvo CE, NIBE and Electrolux Professional Group – have grown into international players, but development, production and many jobs have stayed here. Today almost 7,000 people work in the industry, which is one in every eight employees in the county’s business sector.
Around the large companies, a network of subcontractors and specialists has grown up. This means manufacturers can find capacity, skills and fast adaptation close by. Distances are short and people know each other, which makes it easy to build contacts and make things happen.
The industry is also facing change. Products are becoming increasingly digital, and with them come new services, aftermarket business and skills needs.
There is therefore room for new companies that want to be part of an industry that is both built on experience and on the move.
